Growing Your Business Online

 with Press Releases

This is truly a gem of a marketing strategy, and very few business owners are using it.  Press releases get ranked very quickly by the search engines, so in a very short time you could be getting a lot of free traffic to your website and/or your retail location from your press releases.  So, you definitely want to write press releases about your business and submit them to these free web sites.

A good mindset to be in while creating a press release is to think of it as a testimonial. Explain about what your business has to offer and use specific examples about how it benefits people.

Be sure to use specific examples, because social proof is the most important validation. Use quotes from yourself, and of course quotes from your happy customers are great.  Always leave your readers wanting to know more, and the only way they can find out more info is to visit your website or your store.

Once you have a press release created and ready to submit, find 3 to 5 submission services to submit it to. You can do a search for "free press releases" on Google to find submissions services.  Submit the same press release to all of them. This will ensure that you'll get your information seen in a natural search.

Do not write an article that is more than a page and a half long or more than about 800 words. In fact, I recommend around 250-300 words.  Keep your lines short and your paragraphs to no more than four sentences long. No one reads on the Internet.  They just skim, so keeping your lines and paragraphs short will keep them reading and not skimming.

Do not pay for these services!  By submitting your article to multiple services you get almost the same results for free. Do not submit to more than 5 with the same article.  You may need to sign up to get a free account with the services in order to submit your work.  Here are a few that I use:

Keyword Press Releases

Below are two examples of a KEYWORD Press Release.  The reason for writing your press release around a certain keyword phrase is to insure that YOUR press release comes up at the top when someone does a search for that specific keyword phrase.  So, you want to put yourself in the mindset of a potential customer.  What words would they type into the search bar when they’re looking for the products/services your business has to offer?  That set of words is your keyword phrase.

For each press release you write, you select one keyword phrase on which you will focus.  That keyword should be in your title and your summary and should be used 3-6 additional times in the text of the press release.

The best way to get the most out of press release marketing is to write a new one every few days and submit it to 3 or 5 submissions services. Keep in mind that more submissions are not better. Only submit one to several submission services, and then move onto your next press release.  You can reuse the same basic press release a few times with different keyword phrases before having to move onto an entirely different one.

Always end your press release telling the reader where to go to get more information (your website is the best spot if you have one).  If you have a website that does not have a unique domain name, I recommend you get your own domain and redirect it to your replicated website (this applies for independent distributors).  You can get a domain very cheaply through www.1and1.com.

Keyword tip…

The more unique your keyword is, the closer your press release will appear to the top when the keyword is searched.  For example, “going green” is quite vague while “going green at home” is much more specific.  If I chose “going green” as my keyword, my press release would still show up but it might be on the 20th page of searches.  Since “going green at home” is searched less frequently, when it is searched my press release will show up towards the beginning…which is where I want it.

So, don’t always just go for the obvious keyword.  Choose something specific, and keep repeating the process.  It will definitely pay off!  :o)

Also, if you do not have a website and you want to target people searching for information in a specific location, make sure you include that location as part of your keyword.  For example: “cloth diapering in Halifax” or “Halifax safe household products” or “Halifax organic baby products”

Press Release #1:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Keyword phrase: non-toxic household products, frances leary (always put your name and/or the name of your business as a keyword)
Headline: Non-Toxic Household Products Changing Lives
Summary: Entrepreneur Frances Leary reveals the impact that non-toxic household products have on the average family.
Body:  As society slowly becomes more interested in going green to save the planet, what people often overlook is that using non-toxic household products is not only good for the earth but the only safe choice for our bodies.
Information provide on National Institute of Health website reveals that the simple inhalation of standard cleaning products exposes us to toxins that can cause asthma, allergies, headaches, nausea, reproductive toxicity, nasal ulcerations, eye infections, tissue destruction, chemical pneumonia, chronic dermatitis, chronic lung damage, blood cell damage, liver disease, kidney disease, bone marrow damage, heart conditions, cancer, and more.
Frances Leary, spokesperson for safe homes, explains argues, “We are doing so much damage to ourselves with our household cleaners that we’re actually poisoning ourselves trying to get clean. Using non-toxic household products isn’t just a choice; it’s the only choice there is in order to have a safe home.”
Here are some statistics to support Leary’s assertion:
Organic pollutants found in many common cleaners and even air fresheners are two to five times higher inside the home than out.  Also, a person who spends 15 minutes cleaning scale off shower walls could inhale three times the "acute one-hour exposure limit" for glycol ether-containing products set by the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment.
“For me,” Leary continues, “this battle is also a personal one.  My daughter developed severe eczema at three months old.  I tried all the creams from the doctor and nothing worked.  Finally I started trying natural skin creams, and they helped.  But, it wasn’t until I switched my entire house over to non-toxic household products that she finally got well.”
“My friends’ lives were impacted even more severely.  They almost lost their daughter when she was struck with acute toxicity due to their household cleaners.  She was forced to have a risky liver transplant at 18 months old.  This is real, and people need to pay attention.  Using non-toxic household products truly can save lives!”
Claudette Isshac, the preschool’s owner, has been an involved member of the community for the past 11 years.  It is her devotion to her family and her love of young children that has led her to turn her one-time daycare into the licensed preschool she has today.
“I just love working with children,” reports Isshac.  “It’s my passion in life, and I’m so blessed to be able to do what I love and to offer the families of Timberlea full day childcare and part day preschool.”
Isshac has teamed up with a highly-trained director, Frances Leary, who is not only ECE certified but also has her Nova Scotia teaching license and has been working with young people since her first job teaching in a day care 18 years ago.
According to Leary, “Our goal is to provide a fun, interactive learning environment that builds self-esteem, encourages positive social interaction, and prepares children to be lifelong learners.  We want to give the families here what they really need, and that’s why we’re expanding our program to offer the community of Timberlea full day childcare from here on out.”
